Patient Testimonials I have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed around 4 years ago and have suffered with terrible exhaustion, stiffness and mostly unrelenting muscle pain. I quit my job in order to be able to give my family what little energy I had. I went on medications for pain and to help me sleep. Several months ago, I saw the word fibromyalgia up on a poster in the window of Affordable Chiropractic. I decided I had nothing to lose and went in. I had my first appointment that day and continued going in for adjustments, massages and trigger point work several times a week for months. In the beginning, even the lightest touch was painful, but Dr. Yassini and Sandy went at a pace I could tolerate, pushing me a bit more each time after the first month or so. Overall, I have had less stiffness. When I have had specific painful areas, work has been focused there to help give me some relief. Being in less pain some days has helped me to be more active and has also helped with my energy level. Dr. Yassini has also given me advice on vitamins and supplements. I still have a chronic illness that ebbs and flows, but my quality of life is better. Jill Paul Hi my name is Maribel Santos. For over 7 years I suffered from debilitating back, neck and shoulder pain plus TMJ, which were a result of stress from work, family, and lifestyle problems. My health problems were compounded with the onset of depression, a lack of physical exercise, and a lack of adequate nutrition. As a consequence, I was more susceptible to flu, coughs, colds and other forms of illness. Gradually, my body took several beatings from crippling allergies, sinusitis, tinnitus and finally last year, vertigo. I had to take a leave of absence from work due to my physical disability. I went from one doctor to another, each of them having a different opinion about my condition. I went to massage therapists only to have my pain alleviated for a short time. I took pain medications and drugs to alleviate my other afflictions. All the above expenses wiped me out financially. The turning point in my life was when I awakened the spirituality within myself. This great guidance was to lead me to examine my own health and provide the knowledge required to attain what was lost. As a result, I abstained from meat 8 months. I went on a vegetable diet and used herbs for detoxification which boosted my immune system with alternative medicine, took vitamins and other supplements, did some colon cleansing, removed the silver fillings in my teeth, experimented on metals and many more. On several occasions, I went to see a chiropractor that did a good job in aligning my body and resolving my TMJ problem. Although, he greatly helped in reducing my pain, the pain would come back creating obstacles in my ability to work and socialize. At Affordable Chiropractic, I was counseled to have trigger point therapy and chiropractic work for a period of 3 to 6 weeks. In addition, I was advised to work on my nutrition, take 6,000 mg of MSM a day for three months, undergo heat treatment, and work on stretching exercises. In my few visits to the clinic, I sensed a general improvement in my body. The heat generated by the diathermy, the trigger point therapy and chiropractic work was very soothing and calming. The additional visits helped me to achieve more balance and control on my body. I became more flexible in my body movements. I was more focused and displayed keenness on my perceptive abilities. My depth of awareness expanded and was more attuned to my surroundings. What is more important is that the pain or tiredness in my body was greatly reduced. Although a few relapses would occur, I am now confident that they were due to the un-ergonomic conditions in my computer environment. And because of the profound results I achieved from Affordable Chiropractic, I have taken on more responsibilities at work by accepting the role of Publisher in our IT Newsletter and taking a programming course to add value to my skills. Affordable Chiropractic has definitely made a big impact in my life. The clinic was part of the puzzle of my wellness program and through them I achieved a greater degree of mobility and freedom. And more importantly, the staffs care, dedication and counsel were outstanding. In addition to their routine therapy, I was taught, among others, how to un-learn certain bodily behaviors, rectify incorrect postures, learning to breathe properly, and doing stretches. They did more they taught my body how to re-learn or remember what it was like to be whole. Many of us take our body for granted until we go through painful experiences. I realize now how long and arduous the journey is the road to wellness. And because of this experience, I have learned to appreciate and understand my bodys needs more than anything else. The journey of having to acquire more wealth at the expense of the body is definitely not worth it. Nowadays, I am more inclined to pursue health at the expense of my wealth, if ever there is any left. I have learned to honor my body as a precious gem. - Maribel Santos
